Hearing God In Isolation

Updated: May 22, 2020

It is more important than ever we hear from God. Isolation, which most us are now experiencing, can produce feelings of uncertainty. We can begin to second guess decisions and find fault with everything around us. God said, “It’s not good that man should be alone.” I agree.

God’s voice brings comfort, guidance, peace, and so much more during these troubled times. It is imperative we hear His voice. Yet, hearing during isolation can be difficult. Some think of isolation as times when God is silent. I proclaim that God is NOT silent. We may not recognize His voice or know how He is speaking, but we can learn. There are many ways in which our loving Father chooses to communicate with us. The Kingdom of God is always advancing and moving forward. Our walk with God is always progressing as well.

We are in an intimate time. God is drawing us closer Him. One-on-one time with God brings higher levels of communication, just as in any relationship. He is expanding how we hear His voice and feel His presence.

Below are some insights you may find helpful as you navigate your way through this time:

The Word of God is alive. Read aloud, meditate, and memorize. Find Scriptures relating to areas in which you need to grow. Write them down. Writing the Word is so powerful. Keep a journal of the truths in Scripture God speaks to you, so you can remind yourself often.

Come before His presence with singing. Singing brings you before our King. Praise and worship are Kingdom keys for opening doors. The enemy may have closed some doors to you during this time of isolation, but your voice lifted in praise will unlock and open what has previously seemed impenetrable. Sing Praise!

Pray and Sing in the Spirit. Let God do what only He can do. “Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered” (Romans 8:26 NKJV).

God speaks through people. God can speak through someone sending a text or an email at the perfect time. A phone call, a stranger in a restaurant, even a billboard has countless times given me a word in due season. We must walk through life with our eyes and ears wide open. God is speaking.

We must be the voice of encouragement to others. I have been the most encouraged myself when I have been obedient to give to others. I have never failed to see God bring a needed word to me when I was obedient to give a word to someone else.

Let us have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the Churches.

Blessings friends,

LJR
